Overview of our hiring process:
1. Submit your application. We post new jobs every Wednesday and Friday so come back often to check our openings! Be sure to review the job qualifications and list all your relevant education and experience required for the job.
2. Receive an invitation to an interview. We may call you, send you a text, or an email – keep your eyes open for a message from us.
3. Interview. Show up on time and let your personality shine.
4. Job offer. If your interview is successful, you will be asked to complete a City of Buffalo Civil Service application. You will receive an email with a link to the application, it must be completed online. This is a new and separate application from the application you submitted on our website. You will need to provide proof that you meet the minimum job qualifications, this includes providing proof of any educational requirements and proof that you are a resident of the City of Buffalo. Please see below for a list of acceptable documents. You will also be required to pay $10 for a background check. Please note, they DO NOT accept Venmo, CashApp, Chime etc
5. Civil Service Approval. Once you have submitted your civil service application along with all required documents, the City of Buffalo Civil Service Office will review your application and let us know once it’s been approved. If they require additional information from you, they will contact you. Be sure to respond to their requests or there will be a delay in your approval process.
6. Fingerprinting and HR paperwork. After you’ve been approved by civil service, you will need to be fingerprinted and you will need to complete your HR paperwork.
7. Get started! After all that is done, it is time to start your job! You will be contacted with information on your start date and where to report.

All bills and statements must be dated within three (3) months of the date of your Civil Service application. Water and Tax bills are NOT accepted.
